Felician's Colon Named CACC Defensive Player Of The Week

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University freshman Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J./John F. Kennedy) has been selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 9, the CACC announced on Monday.

Colon, a 6-foot-1, 160-pound guard, averaged 16.0 points, 3.5 rebounds (2.5 defensive) and 4.0 steals in a 1-1 week for Felician. During the Golden Falcons' 67-63 road victory over Mansfield University on Dec. 6, Colon logged five rebounds and made six steals. His final swipe came with his team ahead three points and one minute, 15 seconds, remaining in regulation time.

Colon has played in all seven games for Felician this season, starting six. In 30.6 minutes per game, he is averaging 9.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals while shooting 49.1 percent from the floor. He is a 2018 graduate of John F. Kennedy High of Paterson.

Colon is the second Golden Falcon men's basketball player to be named CACC Defensive Player of the Week this season. Senior forward Rahsaan Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./Chelsea CTE) shared the Nov. 19 honor.

Felician (2-5, 0-1 CACC) is guided by fourth-year head coach Ivan Lewis of Lodi. Colon and the Golden Falcons are next in action on Dec. 19, when they host Dominican (N.Y.) College in CACC action at 8 p.m. at Job Gymnasium in Rutherford.
